Recent storms cause your vinyl siding to fall? Weed wacker cracks? Wood siding rotted from moisture?
Water or Termites...which one is worse? In our experience, water damage is usually confined to small areas, such as entranceways, window sills, and eaves. Compare that to termite damage, which can engulf an entire wall (or the entire house). If you suspect termites, please contact a professional exterminator prior to your project installation. Termites can inflict serious structural damage on a home in a fairly short period of time.
Known as “silent destroyers”, they can chew through wood, flooring and even wallpaper undetected.
Signs of termites include soft wood (hollow sounding), uneven or bubbling paint, small feces resembling sawdust, and discarded wings on windowsills.
Running sister studs all the way up is sometimes necessary to ensure the structure will be stable.
On this wall, the termites had completely destroyed the sill plate. Luckily the damage to the plate was only around 4 feet.
Here the sill plate has been replaced and more sister studs were used to reinforce the structure.
Problem:
The odd angle on this roof caused puddles of water to accumulate and eventually caused deterioration of the wood. Customer began experiencing leaks on the interior of the home.
Solution:
Remove trim and panels of siding, and insert "V" shaped angled flashing under siding panels and roof shingles.
Problem:
Fascia was only a few inches from the roof line with no access to install soffit. Leaving the gap would give birds and small animals access to the wood (and therefore, the inside of the home).
Solution:
Cut the shingles at the same angle as the current fascia. Add step cards up the entire length of the roofline to ensure no visible entry points. Custom-bent PVC-clad aluminum fascia was then installed to cover the flashing.
Problem:
New back porch awning was installed with improperly installed flashing. Customer began to experience water leaks under porch, next to home.
Solution:
Add flashing on roofline next to brick. This was achieved by cutting a line into the brick, inserting custom-bent PVC-Clad aluminum metal into the cut line, and angling the metal for optimum water flow.
